Weary of simply having to inform viewers of news stories about children who are missing, Christi took steps to help, founding “Find Our Children”… a collaboration with The National Center for Missing and Exploited Kids in Washington, DC. HLN hosted a segment about a missing kid, asking viewers to assist find them and to date, 35 of the kids they’ve profiled have been brought home safe and sound. In 2012 NCMEC recognized Christi with their prestigious Hope Award…an award she shares with past winners such as actor Ben Affleck, former Secretary of State Colin Powell, and then-Senator Joe Biden.
Christi is also an author whose book “Love Isn’t Supposed to Hurt”, speaks about overcoming verbal and emotional abuse, which immediately hit Amazon’s top 20. Before working at HLN in 2003, Christi served as an anchor, weathercaster, and consumer reporter in Phoenix. She first joined KNXV, then CNN affiliate KTVK, where she began a segment with the Arizona Humane Society which helped hundreds of dumped animals find new homes with families in the valley. Before transferring to Phoenix, Christi served as an anchor and reporter for KTVB in Boise, ID, where the Idaho Press Club recognized her for her series of stories regarding Julianne Prudhomme, a 4-year-old girl who underwent a 5-organ transplant.
