In this incident, twenty-one(21) students and staff members were stabbed at Franklin Regional High School located in Murrysville, Pennsylvania. This story shows how a community comes together during a heartache, and how people see past the pain. This is one of the reasons she loves to tell stories.
Previously, she also worked with the WLEX-TV team where she served the station as a Reporter between 2010 and 2013. She states that one of the most moving experiences in her line of come came in the year 2010. This is when she was covering the catastrophic 7.0 magnitude earthquake in Haiti. She was working with the WEHT-TV/WTVW team located in Evansville, Indiana. There, she was serving as a reporter between 2007 and 2010.
While there, she was the only reporter invited by a local church and asked to show their journey to Port-au-Prince, where she was spotlighting the damage at their boys’ orphanage. Her news director was not sure if she should go as she did not know how to use a camera at that time. She taught herself how to use it for 24 hours and was on the plane the next day. Fischer states that this job gives one an amazing opportunity if one is willing to work hard.
She is happy to leave Chicago snow and go in for the Texas winters where she is working. Away from work, she enjoys spending time with her fierce kitten named Lola, following the Kentucky Derby and UK basketball, Thai food, and world travel. The habit of following the Kentucky Derby and UK basketball is a behavior she took during her time at WLEX-TV located in Lexington, Kentucky.
