Before reporting at WJCL, Danae was an employee at WHDH-TV in Boston, the Colorado Springs Gazette, NBC’s Meet the Press, and several local newspapers including Wicked Local Media Solutions. Danae is the beneficiary of several journalism awards including a 2021 “Best Reporter” GABBY from the Georgia Association of Broadcasters at their annual award ceremony that acknowledges excellence in broadcasting. She also was honored with two Student Production Awards given by the Boston/New England Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences while in university– one for Best College/University Newscast in 2017 for a student-run newscast, which she contributed and anchored stories to, and another for Best Student Long-Form Non-Fiction video in 2019.
Danae attended Northeastern University and was a full-scholarship track and field athlete, competing as a high jumper. She was a self-described ‘military brat’ as a kid (Go Navy!) which permitted her to live and travel extensively around the globe at a young age.
