Most recently he has become one of the chosen few meteorologists from the American Meteorological Society to earn the “Certified Consulting Meteorologist” in 2005. Requiring one to write a “technical paper,” complete a written exam, and then an oral exam administered by the AMS Board of Consulting Meteorologists.
However, since 1979, Davis has held the AMS’s Broadcast Seal of Approval. In 2001, he held the National Weather Association’s seal of approval. On numerous occasions, he has tacked storms on air for several hours which is something he takes pride in as he is accurate in his weather forecasts. Furthermore, Davis began his television career while he was still schooling and securing a job at WCTV in Tallahassee, Florida as the weekend weathercaster. Additionally, he is active in the community and since 1981, he made many visits to schools explaining the weather to students. During his leisure time, he enjoys fishing, sailing, and listening to music.
