Dukes works for FOX 5 Atlanta News where she serves the station as a weekend evening Anchor. There, she anchors the Evening News at 6, 10, and 11 PM. Asides from this, she also reports on big stories in the field. She is a proud graduate of Chico State University where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications.
Her first big break on television was when she was working as an anchor and reporter in Fresno and Redding. Later on, she went on to move east and do general assignment reporting at Pittsburgh’s WPXI-TV. Later on, after about three years the Atlanta viewers saw her reporting on cross-town rival WSB-TV. This was before later joining the FOX 5 News team.
She states that every television station needs reporters who can handle any type of story. These range from City Hall stories to criminal cases and just plain unpredictable stories. She puts in extra effort for every single assignment. Deidra states that she is most proud of her contributions to the coverage of metro Atlanta’s biggest stories. This includes the Fulton County Courthouse shootings.
After making a move to Atlanta, she has involved herself in a number of community programs while working closely with groups such as the Atlanta Association of Black Journalists, and the Junior League of Atlanta. She has also worked as an adviser for the American Red Cross Minority Recruitment Program.
