Sawyer works at ABC News as a special contributor. She produces documentaries, creates specials, and interviews high-profile interviews. From December 2009 to August 2014, Sawyer worked for ABC World News as an anchor. Additionally, Diane has co-anchored major programs such as “Primetime Newsmagazine,” “Good Morning America,” “ABC World News Tonight,” and “20/20.”

Prior to joining ABC News, she worked as a CBS Early Morning News co-anchor. She also worked for CBS News as the 1st woman correspondent on “60 Minutes,” for 5 years (1984–1989). Moreover, she anchored “Morning with Charles Kuralt” and “The CBS Morning” on CBS News for 4 years (1981–1984).  Before that, she was an administrative assistant to Ron Ziegler (White House Press Secretary). Ultimately, she rose to a staff assistant for Richard Nixon (United States President).

Previously, Sawyer served as an assistant to the White House deputy press secretary, Jerry Warren. Furthermore, she began her journalism career at WLKY-TV in Louisville, Kentucky where she worked as a weather forecaster and news anchor/reporter for 3 years (1967–1970). Before beginning her career, she served as a member of Richard Nixon’s (United States President) White House staff.
