Ed arrives at the Gulf Coast via WKRG’s sister station WFLA in Tampa, FL. His love for weather commenced at age 7 when he watched a waterspout form during an evening of little league baseball. Rather than spending his summers sleeping and watching Saturday morning cartoons, Ed was busy chasing tropical storms and hurricanes.
After graduating, Ed shifted on to KTKA Topeka, KS, one of the most dynamic weather markets in the country. While in Kansas, he honed his forecasting skills by reporting on heat waves, blizzards, and severe weather outbreaks. Ed was also tasked with leading storm-tracking operations for KTKA, which involved organizing and navigating a few chase teams in Northeast Kansas. From there, he moved south to WJBF in Augusta, GA.
While there, Ed reported on the historic 2014 Georgia/South Carolina Ice Storm and the historic rains from Hurricane Joaquin in 2015. His most recent time in Tampa, FL, included helping in the coverage of several major weather events, including Hurricane Irma in 2017, Hurricane Matthew in 2016, and Hurricane Michael in 2018. Ed is an involved member of the National Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society. He has the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) designation from the AMS.
When not foretelling for the Gulf Coast, you will catch Ed hiking, exploring local museums and nature trails, and the best eateries around. He is also an avid bowler, and you catch him coaching youth bowlers in the area and rolling in local tournaments. Ed is thrilled to call the Gulf Coast home.
