Matter joined the team at FOX 5 in Washington, D.C. back in July 2021 and serves as an Evening Anchor. She hosts weekday evening news, as well as weekend evenings at 6:00, 7:00, 10:00, and 11:00 p.m. Jacqueline started working at Whitehouse Law, PLLC as a Corporate Law and Marketing Intern in 2012.
She was also a Media Intern for Steve Rondinaro and John Spiropoulos before moving to Carolina Mudcats as a Marketing and Promotions Intern. Jacqueline started her professional career in journalism as a News Intern at News 14 Carolina and WNCN (Media General, Inc.), Raleigh, North Carolina in 2014.
Jacqueline worked as a Sports Reporter at UNC Sports Extra from September 2013 to May 2015. She also served as a Sportsfan Intern at WRAL for about 5 months in 2014. This was before she started working at Carolina Week as a News Reporter and as an Investigative Intern at ABC11 Eyewitness News – WTVD in North Carolina in 2015.
She then became a News Reporter/ Morning News Anchor at WNCT between May 2015 and December 2016. Matter later moved on to Sarasota, Florida where she joined the ABC 7 WWSB-TV family. She served as a Morning and Evening Anchor for about 5 years until July 2021. She also hosted a political and investigative talk show while at ABC 7. Jacqueline later joined Fox 5 News, D.C in July 2021.
Due to her family background as a veteran and the investigative nature of her journalism career, Jacqueline has managed to report major occurrences such as hurricanes, the 2020 election, the Parkland shooting, the Surfside building collapsing, and so forth. She has also covered veteran’s issues where she has assisted a Korean War Veteran receiving recognition for his service over 70 years later and brought about change regarding exposure to toxic water at the federal level.
Jacqueline was also crowned Miss Carolina International in 2016 and was among the top 10 contestants at Miss International and advocated for awareness of PTSD victims on behalf of those on active duty in the military, veterans who have served their nation, and their families. In addition, she speaks at events nationally in support of non-profit organizations like NAMI and Hope for Warriors. Away from work, Jacqueline enjoys exploring D.C., being a dog mum to her 2 dogs; Hops and Marleigh, dining at local restaurants, learning how to cook, and volunteering.
