She relocated to Miami in 1989, where she worked at WPLG-TV while she was at the station, she covered everything from one of the biggest drug busts in U.S. history, hurricanes, to Haitian riots. Later on, she came back to Susquehanna Valley and worked at WHP-TV in Harrisburg as the 6 and 11 p.m anchor. In addition, she worked at WITF public radio, anchored “Computer Chronicles” on PBS, and hosted a statewide public television broadcast with the governor of Pennsylvania.
Fairbanks, Alaska is her native home and she was brought up in the Seattle area of Washington state. Over the years, a number of her most notable stories include; flying over the still-smoldering twin towers in New York City in an open military helicopter after the September 11th attacks, to deliver supplies, a Lancaster County General who was in charge of the NATO Peacekeeping forces there. and traveling to Kosovo to chronicle the PA National Guard’s involvement. In addition, she enjoys politics and has covered every US President from Jimmy Carter.
Furthermore, her favorite interviews are with; Paul McCartney, President Joe Biden during the coronavirus pandemic, British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, presidential contender John McCain, and U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. In addition, Stelson is devoted to the community by speaking to many groups, being a member of the board of directors for the Humane League of Lancaster County, working with the American Cancer Society and American Red Cross, and other organizations. In addition, she has been named on many occasions as the Best News Anchor on the annual reader poll for Senior News of Dauphin County and Lancaster County.
