Ketz works as a news anchor for KMBC 9 News. Ketz is also an Emmy-award-winning anchor and investigative reporter, capturing a Midwest Emmy for being the best anchor in 2008. He is always in the right place at the right time may it be From the South Central riots in Los Angeles or to national political conventions to Hurricane Andrew in Louisiana.

Ketz also won in-depth coverage on the influence of the Ku Klux Klan in the Kansas City area in 1991. He earned a nomination for a 2003 Emmy for being the best anchor and another one in 2011 for “general assignment covering ” for a heartwarming story about a first-time meeting between a heart transplant recipient and the donor’s family. He was also among the 4 local tv news anchors selected to interview President Obama face to face in February 2015. Before being named co-anchor of KMBC 9 First News in October 2007 he co-anchored the weekday editions of KMBC 9 News at 5 for 14 years.

In May 2015 he was named the co-anchor of KMBC 9 News weeknights at 6 p.m., 9 p.m., and 10 p.m.In Moline in 1981, he broke into television four years later with WQAD-TV. This is where his father anchored for 35 years. He became a weeknight co-anchor at WQAD from a weekend co-anchor/producer. In a reader’s poll in Kansas City Magazine for 2003 and 2001 he was named the Best Reporter.

Ketz was the 2004 recipient of the prestigious Barbara Potts award from Hope House for raising community awareness about domestic violence in Kansas City. In Missouri with centers in Independence and Lee’s Summit, the hope house is the largest domestic violence shelter. In the Hispanic Media Association of Greater Kansas City, he was an active member. On behalf of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, he has been active in raising money through his involvement with the Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon. Since 1980 Ketz has been a co-host of local MDA telethons in Kansas City and the Quad Cities.

In August 2008 his 25th anniversary at Channel 9 was marked by a special congratulatory resolution introduced and approved by the Kansas City, Mo., City Council. An elite group of professionals the National Association of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) was recognized for making a significant contribution to television in the last 25 years or more is where Ketz was inducted for the Silver Circle of the Mid-America Chapter in October 2012.
