Between September 2002 and December 2002, he worked at NewsChannel 9 WSYR in Syracuse, New York as a meteorologist, before returning to 13WHAM full-time. Currently, McLean is the station’s Director of Weather Services and in January 2007, he was promoted to Midday Meteorologist.
He is part of the American Meteorological Society and holds the MS Television Seal of Approval. Since 2001, McLean has been an adjunct professor of Weather and Climate at Monroe Community College in Henrietta. In addition to that, he has an interest and background in horticulture and sometimes produces local gardening specials on Fox Rochester and 13WHAM ABC. McLean also promotes weather by visiting schools and doing station tours if he gets the chance.
