He came to WCVB in October 2017 from WJAR-TV NBC 10 in Providence, RI where he operated as a reporter at WJAR-TV since February 2015. Before that, he served as a reporter and a producer for weekend newscasts for KCEN-TV in Waco, TX. While reporting for KCEN-TV, Matt reported on the Fort Hood shooting, the trial of Nidal Hassan, the West Fertilizer plant explosion,  and the Texas House Bill 2 passing. In addition to his time at KCEN-TV, Matt served as an adjunct professor at Baylor University while in Texas, where he instructed an introductory journalism course about writing and reporting.

Prior to going out west, Matt spent his last semester of graduate school at Boston University serving as a news writer at WHDH-TV Channel 7 in Boston. During the 2012 Summer Olympics, he spent 2 months in London as one of three learner correspondents for WBZ-TV in Boston. While in London, he reported on Massachusetts native Kayla Harrison becoming the first American female or male to win an Olympic gold medal in judo in addition to presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s visit to London.

Throughout his life, Matt has reported on a lot of territory, having resided in Illinois, Florida, California, Maryland, Texas, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts. He graduated from Bishop Fenwick High School in Peabody, MA, University of Miami, and  Boston University.
