Michela is a Cree-Metis adventure guide who has lived her whole life with her family off the grid, deep in the wilderness of the Saskatchewan River Delta, a wild ecosystem and the largest inland delta in North America.
She was homeschooled and later studied horticulture at Vancouver Island University and Biology at the University of Saskatchewan. This post-secondary education enabled her to blend traditional herbal medicines with contemporary methods and now studies the traditional medicine of the Cree people as she pursues the path of a Cree herbalist.
Michela’s adventurous spirit pushed her to start Aski Holistic Adventures, where she led canoeing, fat biking, and snowshoeing excursions into the Sask River Delta, interwoven with her Cree life, skills, herbals and stories.

Carriere was one of 10 contestants who appeared in the Alone Season 11 competition to outlast the other competitors and survived in an unforgiving environment, where the winner went home with a $500,000 grand prize.
She regarded this whole experience as her first long independent trapping season. Following the footsteps of her ancestors, Michele desired to push herself past her maximum to bring home a new sense of self-confidence, and also the most lucrative season yet—because she wants to win! She also wished to motivate other young Indigenous peoples to get out into the wilderness and live Mino-pimatisoewin-the Good Life.
Premiered on 13th June 2024, The HISTORY Channel’s series Alone season 11 followed ten competitors as they headed to the northernmost areas in the show’s history – the freezing, brutal landscape of Inuvik, Canada, north of the Arctic Circle.
Each competitor had to choose ten items from the list of allowable gear (sourcing and purchasing it themselves), including not more than two food items and no repeats of a single item. However, here are the ten items Michela chose to bring on his survival journey to the unforgiving Arctic Circle;
