Taylor works as a meteorologist at WXYZ-TV. Before he joined the station, he worked for the CBS affiliate in Champaign, Illinois, WCIA-TV and for our sister station, ABC 2 in Baltimore. He was on air during his time in Central Illinois when several tornadoes cut through the state during the November 17th, 2013 Tornado Outbreak.
For four hours straight he worked alongside his chief and morning meteorologists getting the latest warnings and tornado reports to the public. During the outbreak in Mike’s viewing area, there was no loss of life. He won a weathercaster of the year award at WBKB-TV in Alpena, Michigan where he worked as the chief meteorologist.
When he first joined the station he got his start as an intern and worked alongside Chief Meteorologist Dave Rexroth. He enrolled at Mississippi State University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Meteorology. Taylor now holds the National Weather Association’s Seal of Approval and plans to continue his education in pursuit of a master’s degree in Atmospheric Sciences. When his not working, he loves working on his car (Volvo S60R)watching movies, enjoying retro video games, trying new beers, and spending time outdoors.
