Prior to moving back home, she was serving as an anchor/producer/editor for Voice of America located in Washington, D.C. Previously, she has also spent some time working as an evening anchor for WAVY-TV & WVBT-TV located in Norfolk. This is in addition to serving at television stations in Ohio, and Rhode Island.
Livas carried the title of Emmy-nominated multimedia journalist. She has also covered the September 11th terror attacks and the Virginia Tech shootings. This is in addition to being one of the first reporters on the scene following the JFK, Jr. plane crash off Martha’s Vineyard.
Livas has also reported feature stories that involve high school football, NCAA basketball, entertainment, and lifestyle news. She was also voted best female newscaster by Coastal Virginia Magazine’s readers several times. This is in addition to serving on the advisory board for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at her alma mater, George Mason University. He also served on the Virginia Beach Planning Commission.
One of her grandfathers taught architecture at Hampton University and founded a firm that still exists in Norfolk. Her other grandfather taught high school physics and was the first African-American City Councilman in Virginia Beach. On the other hand, both of her grandmothers were teachers. Livas is a proud sister to her sister and two brothers.
