Niku followed the trial for months, in and out of the courtroom daily, landing exclusive interviews, and supporting her station lead coverage in this high-profile case that made national news. She believes in conveying stories in a manner that connects with the viewers and builds trust. Although she has covered hard news and crime, she has paid an equal amount of time entertaining onlookers with fun segments.
Niku describes herself as energetic, determined, and dynamic. She is also fluent in Farsi and American Sign Language plays the cello and piano, and has resided in Japan with her husband who serves in the Air Force.
