While serving the station, she covered major stories which include, investigating reports on faulty pap smears which led to new health legislation in Illinois, and shut down a lab responsible for many of those defective smears in Tarzana, California. She served the station from 1985 to 1989. Prior to that, Harvey worked at CNN as a news anchor. She served the station from January 1981 to 1985. Harvey started her career at WNEM TV5-MY5 Meredith Corp as a news anchor, reporter, writer, editor, and producer. She served the station from September 1979 to September 1981.
