Rafer commenced his television profession at KUSI back in 2005. Since then, he has worked in major markets nationwide and has built a reputation for covering ground-breaking stories.

After leaving KUSI in 2006, Rafer was appointed the lead general assignment reporter at the CBS-owned and operated station KOVR-TV in Sacramento where he reported on wildfires in Lake Tahoe and numerous elections.

In 2008, he relocated to Atlanta to become the sports anchor for CNN/HLN’s “The Morning Express alongside Robin Meade.” Rafer carried on his sports profession returning to Chicago his hometown in 2011 as a sports anchor/reporter at ABC 7-the station where his late dad, Tim Weigel, an iconic sportscaster ruled the airwaves in the 80s and 90s.

In 2014, Rafer was appointed the evening news anchor at Fox 2, KTVI-TV in St. Louis where he stayed for three years. In 2017, he went back to Windy City to work as a weekend anchor/reporter and then finally became the morning news anchor for “Good Day Chicago”.
