In October 2011, she joined KNXV-TV in Phoenix, Arizona. While there, she served the station as an anchor, host, and reporter. Her mother suffered from Lupus, an autoimmune disease, earlier in life that left her kidney badly scarred, among other medical issues. Thomas said her mother was forced to begin dialysis treatments three hours a day, three times a week as her kidneys continued to degrade.
This made her start looking for her mother for a kidney transplant. She is a strong proponent of organ donation for the three children of her mother. After some time, she donated one of her kidneys to her mother in November 2015. The transplant was successful. Today she and her mother are in a good health.
