Currently, she serves at FOX 5 DC as a News Anchor/Reporter. Previously, she spent over 4 years as a fill-in anchor and reporter at FOX 32 News in Chicago, Illinois. During her time there, she reported various breaking stories. Some of them include the 2012 Presidential Election, the front lines of a historic Chicago Teachers Union Strike, and NATO(The North Atlantic Treaty Organization).
Also, she covered everything from the 2011 and 2015 Blizzards to the 2014 Polar Vortex. Her favorite moment in Chicago was creating a youth mentoring program, Sisters Peak. The program is designated to assist female students to achieve their goals and succeed.
Before joining FOX 32 Chicago, she was in Indianapolis, Indiana, working for the current station, WXIN FOX 5 as a news reporter/anchor. At that time, she reported on national headline stories like Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels’ take on the year 2010, the Indianapolis Colts’ road to Super Bowl XLIV, and a deadly teen bullying case. Lewis is thrilled to be back in Indianapolis, to work on FOX 5.
Lewis has worked for the NBC station in Miami, Florida, WTVJ-TV for 4 years as a News Reporter, as well as Fill-in Anchor. There, she covered everything from the 2008 presidential campaign to the death of Anna Nicole Smith to President Barack Obama’s inauguration. Also, she covered the conflicts in Cuba and Haiti, including the transition of power in Cuba when leader Fidel Castro got sick. In Miami still, she has served at the CW affiliate, WSFL-TV, where she anchored news headlines and hosted a morning program, “The Morning Show,” as well.
Lewis got her start in the year 2002, at Fox News Channel in New York. There, she appeared on The Big Story Weekend Edition with Rita Cosby and on At Large with Geraldo Rivera. After 2 years, she went to Bakersfield, California to work for the NBC affiliate, KGET-TV as a fill-in anchor and news reporter. She had her first appearance on TV when she was at the age of 14, as a “Posse Member” on a talk show Teen Summit-based in Washington, Black Entertainment Television(BET). There, she appeared in a public service announcement that focused on the awareness of HIV/AIDS.
Prior to her career as a journalist, she was playing piano for more than 10 years, the Alto B saxophone for 3 years, and violin for 2 years. Also, she has performed with the DC Youth Ensemble based at The Duke Ellington School of Performing Arts in Washington. Currently, Lewis is a National Association of Black Journalists member, The Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists member, and Jack and Jill of America Incorporated member.
