Therefore in high school, Alison was on the surf and basketball teams. She began her career as a general assignment reporter for FOX21/KXRM in Colorado Springs. Within a few months, Mastrangelo was promoted as the sports director and anchor.
Alison covered Super Bowls 50 and 51 and helped develop the sports department, while in FOX21/KXRM. Mastrangelo then moved up to Denver7/KMGH and covered the Rockies, Nuggets, Avalanche, Broncos, and the local college teams.
