Buck Lanford is an American Anchor/ Reporter working for FOX 5 Atlanta/WAGA-TV in Atlanta, Georgia serving the station as a Co-Anchor for Good Day Atlanta Morning News. He has been working with this station since November 1998 when he joined as a Weekend Sports Anchor.

Lanford works with FOX 5 Atlanta News where he serves the station as a Co-Anchor for Good Day Atlanta News. He has undertaken this role since July 2011. There, he co-anchors the morning news from 5 to 6 AM with Alyse Eady. He then co-anchors the Morning News from 8 to 9 AM alongside Constance Jones. Prior to this, he was working with the station as a Reporter/Anchor.
Aside from anchoring the morning news at FOX 5 Atlanta, he can be found sitting down with some of Atlanta’s top chefs. Then, he is usually recording his weekly segment, Burgers with Buck. Lanford has eaten and given the coveted BWB “thumbs up” salute to many local restaurants and is still counting.
During his time working as the station’s Weekend Sports Anchor, he lived the station’s sports slogan: “Get in the Game!” Then, he was privileged to cover the World Series, PGA Championship, Final Four, Super Bowl, the American Bowl in Tokyo, The Masters, heavyweight fights, and Daytona 500. Lanford is also active in FOX 5’s High 5 Sports coverage.
Prior to joining the FOX 5 Atlanta News team, he was working with WTOC-TV in Savannah where he was serving the station as a weekend sports anchor. For him, covering a story is just the beginning. Lanford has reported live while driving a race car and has also served as the “runner cam” reporter for the Peachtree Road Race. Running this involved delivering live reports and interviews while running the 10K with about 50,000 people. When he was covering all this, he was proud of his four-part series on the sport of wheelchair racing. It is his commitment to the story that was so strong that he competed in the 5K wheelchair race.
It is his unique style and willingness to get in the game that earned him five Emmy Awards, which includes the Best Sportscaster Award. Asides from this, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society recognized him with their Michael Schoenbrun National Media award. Being involved heavily in the community, he speaks at various civic events and emcees the annual Gwinnett County Hall of Fame awards ceremony.
Buck is happy to be living in his hometown of Atlanta. A graduate of South Gwinnett High School, he went on to earn degrees in journalism and business management from Georgia State University. In fact, he interned at FOX 5 Atlanta during college! Buck enjoys traveling, playing “bad golf,” surfing not-so-big waves all over the world, and raising his three children.
