He started his broadcasting profession as the weekend sports anchor at KNOE-TV in Monroe, Louisiana, covering Louisiana Tech, Grambling, Louisiana-Monroe, LSU, and the Saints. Cameron enrolled at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico, where he was a student-athlete (football). He quickly discovered how to use his own on-the-field experiences to improve his journalism. While majoring in Broadcast Journalism, Cameron operated full-time for KSEL and KENW as their lead sports anchor and play-by-play broadcaster. He also hosted Portales’ first sports chat radio show “Game On!”, and acted as the voice of the Portales Rams.
