Some of which are tragic, some joyful, but all of them are profoundly meaningful for him both professionally and personally. Many images are burned into his memory from reporting in San Francisco’s Marina district in the days after the Loma Prieta earthquake to watching John Glenn blast off onboard the space shuttle at Cape Canaveral. This is in addition to visiting Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland with Bay Area Holocaust survivors.

He states that from his eyes some of the most moving sights imaginable. He states that she never forgot the eager, sweet faces of the children of the slums of Lima. This was friendly and kind to a stranger from America even though they lived with a level of poverty we really don’t understand. She saw first-hand the overwhelming sense of elation and pride from the faithful in Mexico City even as Pope John Paul visited for the first time.

Among his professional and personal highlights happened in Washington which is a city, he knows well having spent a great deal of time there when he was a teenager and young adult. He also counts it a privilege to have to the White House as a tourist but states he never worked as a reporter there. Additionally, he states that he had an opportunity to interview President Barrack Obama in the Diplomatic Reception Room at the White House. This is the very room where the FDR gave his iconic fireside chats. During this interview, he was able to ask President Obama several questions during a one-on-one interview and was able to stand in front of the White House. For him, it was a very grateful experience.

Additionally, he states that there are indelible marks made by the tragedies that he has reported from the scene over the years. While reporting from Littleton, Colorado, he covered the day after the Columbine High School massacre which was a deeply emotional experience. His photographer, Cathy Cavey, where he was worried about what he would find there. Additionally, he also states that it was a heartbreaking place to be in the days following that tragedy. However,  he states that it was a privilege for parents, students, and teachers to trust them enough to tell stories.

These magnificent experiences and opportunities could not have been imagined when he was used to watching Walter Cronkite deliver the news each evening with her family. She states that he thought as a teenager he was being a journalist which must have been such an interesting profession, where he states he never really thought about making it his reality until college.

Away from work, he can be found in the music studio writing and recording songs or on the stage as he was performing with his American Rock band.
