His career started at CBS2 News in New York City where he worked as a desk assistant. Being an Evening Anchor with WVNS 59News in Ghent, WV was his first on-air job. The West Virginia Broadcasters Association awarded him best general assignment reporting and best breaking news coverage while he worked in the mountain state.
He had a face-to-face chat with several political figures and notable businesses including U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders.
On WOWK’s “West Virginia Tonight,” Thorn led the statewide team and also reported on landmark criminal trials, a 1,000-year flood, a statewide teacher strike, and the opioid epidemic.
Showcasing people doing good in the community is his favorite story. Thorn met a 6-year-old boy named Cooper who received a new lease on life with a 3-D printed hand. When his not working, he loves watching sports (Go Yanks!) and movies, working out, listening to music, and traveling.
