In 1987 after graduating from Colorado State University/Pueblo (formerly University of Southern Colorado) with a Bachelor of Science degree in mass communications/journalism, he found his direction shifting. His interests were definitely looking up – literally. He went on to achieve a Certificate in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University.

Aguilera who is a First Alert Meteorologist works for CBS 4 and grew up in Colorado. He has covered major weather events, such as floods, droughts, tornadoes, and blizzards, and has witnessed how weather affects people. Since 1986, he has worked as a tv and radio broadcaster in Colorado and the Rocky Mountain Region. Aguilera spends a lot of his time across the Front Range every year teaching thousands of elementary school children.
There he encourages them by telling them by becoming Junior Weather Watchers they can become part of the CBS4 team. He holds the American Meteorological Society’s Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) designation, which is a professional recognition of the quality of his weather broadcasts. He has worked as a weather anchor at KOAA-TV in Pueblo/Colorado Springs Colorado; KRQE-TV in Albuquerque, New Mexico; and at KREX-TV in Grand Junction, Colorado. Additionally, he has worked for KHOW-Radio and KOA-Radio in Denver as a news reporter/anchor, and at KCCY, KRYT and KDZA, in Pueblo he has worked as a Disc Jockey. By joining CBS4 as a meteorologist, he accomplished the goal he had set for himself in college.
Throughout the year, he participates in and emcees multiple fundraising events for nonprofit groups. His first tv appearance was way back in 1987 at KOAA-TV in Pueblo.
