Abeyta works for CBS 4 as a multi-media journalist who was born and raised in Colorado Springs. He began his career at KOAT-TV in Albuquerque where he worked as a News Photographer and Editor. There he reported news for five decades before relocating home to Colorado. Before joining CBS4 as a Photojournalist, he had the opportunity to sharpen his editing and photography skills as a Photojournalist for another local Denver TV station.
He decided to shift his career from a Photojournalist to a Multi-Media Journalist in 2018. The change allows him to tell stories the way he likes to tell them and exercise his writing skills. Since he was a little boy, he loved watching the news and enjoys every minute of his job. When Abeyta received “Honorable Mention” in the “West Top Spot News” category for 3rd quarter, he won his first National Press Photographers Association TV Quarterly Clip Contest certificate that was in 2011.
