Dorsey states that growing up he also never wanted to leave the Bay Area as it was his hometown. He also states that he took that advice to heart and has since moved to the opposite country and lived in the little Wilmington, NC where he was working as a multimedia journalist with the WWAY News team.
From then, he was quickly thrust into the news world where he was covering a Black Panther Party protest, Hurricane Matthew, and Donald Trump’s presidential rally among other stories which helped him realize he is no longer in college. Additionally, he goes ahead to state that his passion had always been sports, and for about 6 months he was able to get promoted to being the sports director for this station.
While, he always desired to emulate his broadcasting partner, Rich Eisen, and also become a sports anchor. Currently, he states that just a short time into his career he is proud to have fulfilled his dream. Working as the sports director, he had an opportunity to cover the NCAA baseball regional, the PGA Tour Championship, and March Madness. Additionally, he also told the small-town stories of the athletes in Southeastern North Carolina where he also watched much ahead to do great things.
For him, it was a life-changing experience to be able to live in a different country. However, after about two years in the South, he was ready to return to his hometown. He states that the ABC team allowed him to do that and is proud.
He is happy and proud that he is now getting to be in his backyard while telling the stories of the South Bay Community which is alongside the same talented journalists whom he grew up watching. For him, so far it has been an amazing journey but still believes the best is yet to come.
