When the Oakland Ghost Ship warehouse fire and the evening the Camp Fire reached the town of Paradise he anchored in the morning but afterward. Over decades he covered the Warriors Parade.
In the mid-80s at KIEM-TV in Eureka is where Mallicoat’s journalism career started as a sports broadcaster. Before relocating to Boston to begin his new career in 2001, he moved east where he was the sports director at WMUR in Manchester NH, WLVI in Boston, and WJBK in Detroit.
Before he got the call to “come home” to the Bay Area, he was the weekend anchor at WFXT in Boston and the lead anchor at WLVI. Prior to joining KTVU in 2016, he anchored mornings at KPIX for 5 years. Mallicoat covered a number of New Hampshire primaries, the Red Sox breaking “the curse”At Senator Ted Kennedy’s funeral, and Tom Brady winning a number of Super Bowls while in Boston.
Mallicoat is thrilled to be back in the Bay Area after he spent 27 years in New England. He is an outgoing person and you may find him on many of Northern California’s hiking trails and golf courses. He likes going to Lake Tahoe — his “Happy Place” during the summer and winter seasons and is also a fan of sports.
