Hank came to the WDIV family in 2001 and during his long term has acted as a reporter, Local 4 Defender, and a weekend morning News Anchor. In 2015, when Ruth Spencer “Ruth to the Rescue” resigned she handed over the reins of the famous consumer unit to Hank and Help Me Hank has been serving the community in that role since.
While serving as a reporter at WDIV, Hank covered some of the most oversized stories in metro Detroit. He covered the conviction, scandal, and trial of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, his work on the killing investigations of Jane Bashara, Tara Grant, and Ronald Jabalee was highlighted on Dateline NBC and The Today Show. Hank also shared the first and only interview with the lone survivor of Northwest Flight 255, Cecilia Cichan, who was the first reporter to interview Dr. Jack Kevorkian following his release from prison and years later broke the news of his death.
As a consumer reporter, Hank worked to assist transform Thurgood Marshall Elementary School in the city. He operated with the Detroit Pistons to build the gymnasium and school library. Hank has assisted hundreds of Detroiters to get justice following being ripped off and works to warn them about the latest scams and recalls involving the community and families.
