Harvey Leonard born Harvey Leonard Moskowitz is an American meteorologist well known as the former chief meteorologist of WCVB-TV Channel 5 in Boston, Massachusetts. He worked with this station from 2002 -May 25, 2022.

Leonard started his profession as a meteorologist for Universal Weather, Inc. preparing forecasts for aviation and industry. He also taped reports for radio stations in Connecticut and New York as well as teaching at New York University. Harvey also served as chief meteorologist for WPRI-TV in Providence, Rhode Island for three years.
He first arrived on Boston TV in May 1977 at Channel 7, then recognized as WNAC-TV. For the first few years, Harvey served as a staff meteorologist. By the time the station was traded to New England Television and became WNEV-TV in 1982 (the same ownership would rename it again to WHDH in 1990), Leonard became chief meteorologist, the position he would hold there for the next 2 decades. During his long term at Channel 7, he was voted “Best Meteorologist” by Boston Magazine in 1984, ’86, ’88, and ’92. Harvey also served as a meteorologist for the radio station WROR-FM in 1980.
He departed WHDH-TV in April 2002 and that same year joined WCVB-TV. Following the retirement of then-chief meteorologist Dick Albert in 2009, Leonard was once again promoted to serve as chief meteorologist, this time at WCVB. He retired from WCVB on the 25th of May 2022. In late 2010, he contributed to the book, Extreme New England Weather, with his 1978 story of the Northeastern United States blizzard. Leonard is a lecturer and avid outdoorsman at MIT, Harvard, Boston University, and Boston Medical Center. He is a charter member of the National Weather Association and he has been called the dean of Boston meteorologists.
