John’s love of Cleveland sports commenced as a kid when his dad and brother took him to countless Browns and Indians games at the old Municipal Stadium and to Cavaliers games at the Richfield Coliseum where John watched the Cavs and his childhood idol Mark Price. His two most unforgettable Cleveland sports memories are the 2016 Cavs championship and attending Game 7 of the 2016 World Series.
Prior to his profession coming back to Cleveland, John served at WOWK-TV 13 News in Charleston, WV, and WVNS-TV 59 News in Beckley, WV. In 2013, John earned the West Virginia Broadcasters Association “Best Sportscast” award. Most recently, he worked the unique position as both sports anchor and news on WFTS-TV in Tampa, FL for nearly 7 years. In addition, he operated as the station’s lead sports reporter/anchor and host of numerous TV sports specials.
John got the taste of championship sporting events reporting the 2017 College Football Playoff National Championship, countless other bowl games, the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Stanley Cup Final, and other sporting events in the Bay area. He has interviewed several of the sport’s biggest names including Tiger Woods, LeBron James, Shaquille O’Neal, and Derek Jeter, but the most unforgettable and favorite interview he did was with Julia Ruth Stevens, Babe Ruth’s daughter, on the 100th anniversary of the first spring training game in St. Petersburg, FL in 2014.
