Horner comes and goes to St. Louis, Mo. weekly to do the weather on KSDK and KMOV while handling her ill father who is in critical condition.
She went west after her dad died, and took the position as Public Affairs Director for the Kansas Adjutant General in Topeka, Kan. She also managed to become the spokesperson for the Kansas National Guard and the Kansas Division of Emergency Management. Horner was requested to join the First Alert Weather Team in April 2018.
Horner launched“Seal of Approval Consulting” to assist new weathermen. She wrote a children’s book, ‘Brainstorming: A Clever Manual to Help Parents and Children Through Severe Weather.’ And, she’s been voted one of Kansas City’s most influential women. Horner ran the Chicago Marathon, Ireland Marathon, the Dublin, and three half-marathons.
She managed to finish more than three dozen short triathlons, and too multiple 5 kilometers and 10 kilometers to recall. Besides, she was also able to finish a 500-mile bike ride through the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Horner’s hobbies are a little less competitive now. She loves yoga, scuba, and road biking.
