Prior to joining WMAR Baltimore, Kelly spent most of her profession working for Scripps. Her first educational job out of school was at the Scripps station in Cincinnati serving on the assignment desk answering phones and preparing coffee until she was promoted to Associate Producer.

From Cincinnati, she accepted her first reporting job in Milwaukee. Her desire to get away from the cold and snow directed her back to Scripps station in sunny Florida where she served as a reporter and weekend anchor.

While she’s covered her share of crazy news stories throughout the years, Swoope’s oddest job came well prior to her career as a journalist. Her first career was behind the counter at a movie theater as a popcorn girl during high school.
