Prior to FOX 5, she was working the station’s sister station, FOX 5 Atlanta where she was an anchor/reporter for the station reporting during the day and co-anchoring the station’s “News Edge at 11” on weeknights.

Mitchell works with the FOX5 News team where she is serving as a morning news anchor. Prior to FOX 5 Atlanta, she had spent several months working as a solo anchor for “Good Day Atlanta” on weekends. After her first year anchoring in her hometown, she was nominated for “Best Anchor” by the Regional Southeast EMMY Chapter.
Asides from her anchoring role, she covered some major events which include Super bowl LIII week and covering Hurricane Irma. In addition, she covered multiple days of protests in the regions of Atlanta and Charlotte, and North Carolina which was all following a high-profile, officer-involved shooting in the year 2016. Additionally, she also worked in the field where she was field anchoring the inauguration of Georgia Republican Governor Brian Kemp. She is a no-stranger on the city’s red carpet and most notably chatting with some of Hollywood’s biggest stars at the grand opening of Tyler Perry Studios. Prior to moving to Atlanta, she was working for the WBMA-TV team in Birmingham, Alabama. While, there, she was part of the station’s launch team for the “Focus at 4” program. In addition, she was also serving as an anchor for the station’s Middy News. There, she covered city hall and often broke exclusive reports regarding government funding. She also helped in the leading of the station’s coverage of the 50th anniversary of the “Selma to Montgomery March.” The march was attended by President George W. Bush and Barack Obama in addition to other congressmen and civil rights icons such as John Lewis.
Her television career began while working for WTVC-TV located in Chattanooga, Tennessee where she was working as a multimedia journalist. While there, she reported breaking news which includes reporting on the deadly 27th of April 2011 tornado outbreak across the Southeast. In addition, she worked as a writer for Rolling Out and Crossroads News.
Mitchell is a proud member of the Alpha Kappa Sorority Incorporated and the National Association of Black Journalists. In addition, she also mentors many budding journalists and speaks at various schools, churches, and conferences. In addition, she has also received numerous honors for her community involvement with many youth and women. Additionally, she is a very busy motivational speaker.
Throughout her life, she is known for what she has done professionally. However, her love for journalism did not start in adulthood. From when she was around nine years old, she had the desire to become a journalist. As a teenager, she co-hosted the morning announcements television shows at Dunwoody High School where she was co-hosting alongside fellow Atlanta native and host Ryan Seacrest who graduated and had the same role.
