While spending time in the Midwest, she enjoyed reporting severe weather conditions and Football and Notre Dame Hockey.
Before she landed in the Midwest, she served as an anchor, reporter, and weather forecaster for KSBY News, the NBC News affiliate on California’s Central Coast where she reported everything from the local politics to county courts, the California drought, and current local events and issues.
After graduating, she enjoyed and learned from many news internship opportunities including working in the entertainment department at KTLA in Los Angeles, the morning show at KABC in Los Angeles, writing for the Orange County Register, and traveling across the country to intern with WJLA in Washington, D.C. Amanda also accepted a freelance position with the Orange County Register while still doing her undergrad education. Before graduating, she earned the Orange County Press Club Best College Journalist Award and Scholarship in 2011 & 2012.
Amanda is a Figure Skating professional skater. She has competitively skating since the age of 3 calling her home rink the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo, where she carries on her training. She also enjoyed taking part and competing in pageantry where she received the title of Miss California Teen in 2010. While at Chapman, Amanda was busy in Chapman News, established and served as president of the Chapman Figure Skating Team, and danced on the Chapman Cheerleading Team
Since Amanda has resided in Indy, she feels honored to volunteer at Riley Hospital for Children working with Child Life Services on a weekly basis. She values her time consumed with Riley’s children and their families because of the strength they embody and the perspective they give on what is really important in life.
Amanda is an active representative of her local downtown community. She is also a strong advocate of autism awareness and education all over the country to become a more accepting society towards children and adults with special needs.
