While still working at the Texas Department of Water Resources, he also worked at the National Weather Service (NWS) where he served as a Warnings and Preparedness Meteorologist, and forecaster, as well as a Regional and National Program Manager.
During his tenure at NWS, he ran the NWS forecast office in El Paso, Texas, and also served as a senior manager. Several years later, he moved on to work for an ABC affiliate, KAVU-TV in Victoria, Texas where he served as the Chief Meteorologist from August 2009 to March 2020. Since he started his journalism career, he has won a ton of awards and honors including two Department of Commerce Bronze Medals. He also owns the prestigious AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation and the American Meteorological Society’s (AMS) Radio Broadcast Seal of Approval.
