Later on, she worked as a night-side general assignment reporter in Phoenix, Arizona. From the news station’s helicopter and down in the dumps she was afforded the opportunity to have a bird’s eye view reporting.
From her station, she was the first reporter to cover the horrific shooting outside a Tucson grocery store where 18 people were shot, including US Representative Gabby Giffords. By shadowing border patrol agents and undocumented immigrants in the desert, she showed two sides of the nation’s immigration battle which earned her a Rocky Mountain Emmy Award for General Assignment Reporting.
In Denver, Colorado she was a weekday morning anchor. There she reported crippling blizzards that shut down the city during extended coverage and a devastating wildfire. For “Excellence in News Anchoring” she earned a 2019 Heartland Emmy Award. In 2018 the news station an Emmy Award when she hosted a special for “Overall News Excellence” and hosted another special in 2017 that earned the station an Emmy Award for “Station Excellence.”
She double majored in Communication and Spanish at Trinity University in San Antonio.
