While at Eastern University, Carmen was heavily involved with the campus’s TV news station recognized as News 22. It was her first taste of the fast-paced broadcasting world and she knew it was precisely what she wanted to do. She reported, anchored, and also did behind-the-scenes work.
Carmen was lucky to have some of the most inspiring and talented professors whom she now considers her mentors. During her last year of graduate school, Carmen did an in-depth, multi-media piece on the controversies surrounding autism, where she questioned two of her friends who carried this disability. Her graduate project had a lasting effect on her as she was able to understand the challenges they endure on a regular basis. She also took part in several Autism 5 Walks/Runs throughout Connecticut to assist in raising money for several organizations.
Carmen got her first TV reporting career in Hagerstown, Maryland at WHAG-TV. Carmen spent three years as a multi-media reporter and also produced and anchored the weekend morning newscasts. She relocated to News 10 in Albany, New York in 2015, reporting breaking news stories on the 10 pm and 11 pm newscasts.
During her spare time, Carmen enjoys going for runs outside, doing yoga, consuming time with her mom, with whom she is very close, and catching up on the latest shows on Netflix!
