She got her big break into TV news at WPRI-TV in Providence, R.I. After just a few months on the career, Erika found herself reporting on the biggest breaking news stories in New England: the Station nightclub fire in West Warwick, R.I. After covering live through the night of the blaze, she was the only local reporter to interview a nightclub survivor, live from inside the hospital. Erika earned an Emmy award for her part in the station’s news coverage.
She then shifted west to the bright lights of Las Vegas, where she reported the capture of “the Ohio sniper,” the Bellagio blackout, and the Ted Binion murder re-trial. While in Las Vegas, she also interviewed several stars like Robert Redford, Nikki Hilton, Kobe Bryant, and Anna Nicole Smith. In “Sin City,” Erika also had the chance to star on the big screen, in the movie “Miss Congeniality 2: Armed & Fabulous”. The character wasn’t much of a stretch though, as she portrayed a local news anchor.
In Los Angeles, Erika served as a freelance correspondent for the Fox News Channel, where she covered entertainment events, including “American Idol.” She provided coverage, live reports, and interviews for FOX stations across the country, including Chicago, Boston, Atlanta, and Washington D.C. In 2010, Erika was selected for a New England Emmy award for news anchoring. She is a representative of the Asian American Journalists Association and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
