Murrow Awards: One for his report on a possible connection between earthquakes and Marcellus Shale drilling, and one for an examination of how smoke detectors often don’t wake up children. In addition, David also won Golden Quills for feature reporting, a Matrix award for flood coverage, and awards from the Pennsylvania Associated Press Broadcasters Association.
Some of his reports have aired on KCBS in Los Angeles and WCBS in New York. He has also covered live a train derailment for WBBM in Chicago and drought conditions for “CBS This Morning” (now “CBS Mornings”). In 2008, his hometown inducted him into the Ford City Hall of Fame, and in 2013, he was inducted into the Armstrong County Sports Hall of Fame for countless sports-related stories he’s covered over the years.
David also has contributed his time to local charities including Animal Friends, Persad Center, Hair Peace, The KDKA-TV Turkey Fund, American Red Cross, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Progressive Workshop of Armstrong County, and Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
