The two of them also host “Pittsburgh Today Live,” Pennsylvania’s very famous daily lifestyle/talk show.

He got his commencement at KDKA as a writer in 1991 before being promoted to a newscast producer. Then he went in front of the camera, first as the Westmoreland County Bureau Chief and afterward as the Beaver/Butler Bureau Chief. David also worked for years as an 11 p.m. fill-in anchor and reporter, and in 2020 was promoted to the anchor of KDKA News at Noon. David also hosted, created and executive produced the Emmy award-winning “Your Pittsburgh,” an evening newsmagazine that ran for 7 years on KDKA.

Murrow Awards: One for his report on a possible connection between earthquakes and Marcellus Shale drilling, and one for an examination of how smoke detectors often don’t wake up children. In addition, David also won Golden Quills for feature reporting, a Matrix award for flood coverage, and awards from the Pennsylvania Associated Press Broadcasters Association.

Some of his reports have aired on KCBS in Los Angeles and WCBS in New York. He has also covered live a train derailment for WBBM in Chicago and drought conditions for “CBS This Morning” (now “CBS Mornings”). In 2008, his hometown inducted him into the Ford City Hall of Fame, and in 2013, he was inducted into the Armstrong County Sports Hall of Fame for countless sports-related stories he’s covered over the years.

David also has contributed his time to local charities including Animal Friends, Persad Center, Hair Peace, The KDKA-TV Turkey Fund, American Red Cross, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Progressive Workshop of Armstrong County, and Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. In the 2009 short film, he played a news reporter “Tommy and Me” which was produced by Fleadh Films and benefited Operation Safety Net, which helps people who are homeless.
