Dion Lim is an American Reporter/Anchor working with the KGO-TV/ABC7 News team in San Francisco as a full-time Anchor/Reporter since October 2017. Prior to ABC7 News, she was working with the WTSP-TV team in Tampa, Florida Area where she was working as an evening Reporter/Anchor between January 2014 and February 2017.

She is a proud graduate of Emerson College where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism. On her first day working with the ABC7 team, she was given a task to work with the engineer who hand her a big red bag. The bag happened to contain her fireproof suit a face mask, and a helmet.
She began her journey to the ABC7 News when she was still a small child. Dion states that two immigrants from Hong and Taiwan wanted her to learn how to speak “proper” English. She would also sit in front of the TV in order to watch ABC’s 20/20. Her heroes at the time were Barbara Walters and Hugh Downs. Later on, as she was growing older, it struck her that she could also give others a voice as the two did.
Her former mentors from her high school teacher, Mr. Lewis, and another Mr. Lewis who was a news director at a station in Hartford, Connecticut helped give her a start as a student reporter. Lim’s journey in journalism has taken her from ground zero after hurricanes and tornadoes to broadcasting in a booth next to Michelle Obama at the Democratic National Convention and again to Hollywood for red carpet TV show premieres.
She counts it a privilege to have been voted “Best Morning Anchor” and “Best TV Personality” by different publications in Kansas and Charlotte. She was additionally named one of the nation’s top 18 leaders under 34 in TV by Broadcast and Cable Magazine. For her, these honors mean more to her than a golden statue.
With these roles, she was able to pursue community involvement projects. Among them includes developing programs for women’s professional groups and students revolving around the theme of empowerment, being authentic, and laughter. Through her reports, she has contributed to the Huffington Post and written a series of Army Poehler’s Smart Girls website and also signed on last year as an author for Full Circle Literary.
Away from the television, she can be found traveling around the world, acting as an ambassador for the non-profit Best Buddies volunteering, and exploring all the amazing food available in the Bay Area. Being a foodie, she states that she has a sushi roll named after her inside Universal Studios City Walk and at The Cowfish restaurant located in Charlotte, Atlanta.

Previously, she has also worked with the WCNC-TV team, an NBC affiliate station in Charlotte. There she was working as an evening Primary Anchor and Reporter. In addition, she has previously worked with the KMBC-TV team in Kansas City where she was working as a Weekday Morning Anchor between June 2007 and June 2010. Additionally, prior to this, she was working with the WWLP-TV team in Springfield, Massachusetts Area where she was working as a General Assignment Reporter between January 2006 and March 2007.
When she moved to the North Bay area, fires had just broken out and within an hour, she was at the epicenter of the destruction. There, her adrenaline kicked in. She states that from neighborhoods of multimillion-dollar homes to mobile home parks, the flames showed no mercy. The victims of the fire took to the streets as they dazed and were covered in thick black ash. She states that the air was so thick with smoke and it was burning the lungs and tears would stream down people’s faces. Despite the chaos and gut-wrenching sadness, being able to tell the stories was an honor and a privilege for her as it reminded her of why she got into the crazy TV news business in the first place.
