He started working at the station in September 2012. Prior to joining the station, he worked at KTRE-TV in Lufkin, Texas as an evening anchor and executive producer from the year 2008 to August 2012. Before that, Luckie worked at KTAL-TV in Shreveport, Louisiana as a general assignments reporter in 2008. While working at the station, he delivered lead stories for the weekday newscasts and also produced content for the 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 10 p.m. newscasts.
Before joining KTAL, Luckie worked as a marketing assistant at Natchitoches Convention & Visitors Bureau in Natchitoches, Louisiana from December 2004 to July 2008. He is a recipient of the Regional Emmy from the Lone Star Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. He has also been recognized by the Associated Press, Texas Association of Broadcasters, Southeast Journalism Conference, and Broadcast Education Association for his work. Luckie was selected as a RIAS Berlin Commission fellow by the RTDNF in 2017, taking part in a trans-Atlantic exchange program for German and American broadcasters.
In 2018, he traveled to China to cover trade tensions between the world’s largest economies as a member of the East-West Center. He then moved back to Germany to report on the fall of the Berlin Wall’s 30th anniversary in 2019. While still in Germany, he covered the federal parliament elections in 2021. Luckie spent one week in Poland the following year, covering the Ukrainian refugees who currently live in Tyler’s sister city. In 2023, he reported from Munich and Cologne for one week. Luckie currently serves as as NSU Alumni Association’s past president. In 2017, he was honored as NSU’s Distinguished Young Alumnus of the Year. He volunteers on the advisory committee for the NSU Department of New Media, Journalism, and Communication Arts and is part of the board of directors of the Beta Omicron Alumni Chapter and Housing Corporation.
