He began working at the station in March 2006 as the weekend meteorologist, then in December 2008, he was promoted to chief meteorologist. He continues to give East Texans an accurate, and informed weather forecast every weeknight at 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. Throughout his career Hlozek’s most memorable experience was reporting on Hurrican Ike, on 13th September 2008, when it came through East Texas. He said that covering a hurricane was both exhausting and exhilarating at the same time.
Before joining KTRE, Hlozek worked as an intern at KTRK ABC 13 in Houston, Texas in 2004, alongside Chief Meteorologist Tim Heller. Prior to that, he worked as an intern at Bryan College Station in Texas alongside Chief Meteorologist Bob French in the summer and fall of 2005. He also worked as an Adhesive Applications Engineer at Paco Tech from May 2003 to August 2003.
