Previously before coming back to his home state, Mike worked at WUSA in Washington, D.C from October 2010 to October 2017 where he served as a weekday morning anchor. He anchored from 4:25 to 7 a.m. Hydeck Wrote, Produced, and anchored live Breaking News in the studio and On scene. He Produced and anchored Special events and Sports coverage including, the 2013 and 2017 Presidential Inaugurations as well as Pope Francis’ address to Congress, The National Marathon, PGA Tour (ATT National), MLB (Washington Nationals), and National Cherry Blossom Parade.

Being an avid golfer, Mike’s other memorable assignment was a one-on-one interview with Tiger Woods. Prior to joining WUSA, Hydeck worked as a morning news anchor for WFSB-TV from September 2006 to October 2010. He reported from the field.

Before moving to WFSB-TV Mike worked at WBZ-TV Boston as a weekend morning and evening news anchor and reporter from 2003 to 2006. Hydeck worked on  general assignment reporting on everything from Democratic National Convention, to wire coverage of the Boston Marathon. He also enjoyed Field Anchoring Victory Parades for New England Patriot Superbowl Wins and the 2004 Red Sox World Series Championship Parade.

Prior to WBZ-TV Boston from 1999 to 2003 he worked as news anchor and  reporter for WLOS-TV. Hydeck anchored 5:30 newscasts and reported daily news stories for 11 pm news.

Veterans’ concerns and causes are near and dear to Hydeck ’s heart. Mike is a volunteer with Friends of the National World War II Memorial. Hydeck is active with the Boy Scouts of America and Rebuilding Together. Hydeck is thrilled about being back home, where he and his family can make regular trips to Mystic and any destination near the water.
