In 2007, in 15 seasons as the Rockies’ general manager and executive vice president, O’Dowd guided Colorado to a World Series appearance and a Postseason appearance in 2009. He arrived at the Rockies’ Baseball Operations department in 1999, and in 2010 he was voted the club’s chief baseball officer in addition to his position as general manager and executive vice president.
Before joining the Rockies, Dan served as the assistant general manager and vice president of baseball operations for the Cleveland Indians, where he first arrived as director of player development in 1988 and spent 11 years in the club’s front office.
O’Dowd graduated from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, and commenced his baseball profession in 1983 with the Baltimore Orioles organization, where he performed in the player development, broadcasting, and marketing departments for five seasons.
