He was selected in the third round of the 1982 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers. In Utes history, Rodgers was the first 1,000-yard rusher in A 5’11” running back-kickoff returner from the University of Utah. Del played for the Packers from 1982 to 1985 and ran a 97-yard kick return for a touchdown against the Chicago Bears on 9 December 1984.
From 1987 to 1988, after a one-year absence from the league, he came back and played two seasons for the San Francisco 49ers and was primarily used as a kickoff returner. Del earned a Super Bowl ring after they won Super Bowl XXIII, beating the Cincinnati Bengals 20-16 in 1989. He was a member of the 49ers.
