While working at the station, he was responsible for graphic creation, forecasting, and weather hits every 10 minutes. Porter also handled radio spots for a number of stations in Indiana and Ohio. Before that, he worked at WBOC-TV in Salisbury, Maryland as a morning meteorologist from September 2003 to November 2005.
Prior to joining WBOC, Porter worked at WKTV NewsChannel 2 in Utica, New York as a weekend evenings and fill-in meteorologist. He worked at the station from May 2003 to September 2003. Before that, he worked at The Weather Channel in Atlanta, Georgia as a temporary meteorologist from May 2001 to July 2001.
