He was born in the beautiful city of Tampa, Florida, and upon graduating from Plant City High School he joined the United States Air Force to follow his dream of becoming a dentist. But following a couple of years elbow-deep in other individuals’ mouths, he determined a career change was in order. In 1990, Rob was taken for cross-training and became a distinguished graduate of the Armed Forces Defense Information School in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Air Force instantly shipped him to Osan, South Korea where he was the DJ for a morning radio show (Good Morning, Osan!) and created news reports for the Armed Forces Korea Network television news in the afternoon.
In 1991, Rob was repositioned at Tyndall AFB in Panama City, Florida. It was there he abandoned the Air Force and commenced working for WJHG TV-7 as an anchor and reporter. During his seven years in the Florida panhandle, he rode out hurricanes, covered local and state crime, politics, and anchored both the evening and morning newscasts. He also earned people and station Associated Press recognition. During that time Rob also freelanced for CNN, Current Affair, CBS radio, and Live with Geraldo Rivera, and also served as the newsman for a local Talk Radio station.
Rob is currently a 7-time Emmy-winning news anchor and reporter for CBS 6 This Morning with Reba Hollingsworth, traffic anchor Kristen Luehers, and meteorologist Tom Patton. He is also part of Ironbridge Baptist Church in Chester, Virginia, and is engaged with several annual local occasions and fund-raisers for state and society organizations. In his spare time he relishes camping, hiking, fishing, spending time with Debra and his son Jacob…and most significantly…cheering for his hometown Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
