Tyler Ryan Career

Ryan works for ABC Columbia (Wolo-Tv 25) serving as a weather anchor/morning co-host. He started his profession in the decade of hair rock at a small radio station in Keene, NH.  After college, Tyler found a place as a country radio morning personality and event host.  That high visibility assignment leads to him dabbling in television as a spokesman and veejay at a local station. Fast ahead a decade..or so…and he saw himself on the air at Cat Country in Charleston.  Tyler also started honing his emcee and public speaking skills, along with persisting to work in television.

In 2005, Tyler was swabbed to join a new country radio station in Columbia, as the morning show host, and society liaison, making frequent trips to Nashville to meet, produce promotions, and interview some of the largest country stars in the business.  Tyler also persisted in working in society, serving on boards, and operating as an emcee for more than 100 community events a year.

In 2006, he joined the Fox affiliate, WACH-TV, in Columbia as a weatherman, which guided him to hosting and anchoring, as well as operating as the Executive Producer for Good Day Columbia for many years.  While at Fox, Tyler produced multiple franchise programs and hosted a cooking competition show, as well as the award-winning sequence “Tyler’s Travels” and “Food Friday,” as well as a full-length program concentrating on the Basic Training program at Fort Jackson.

Tyler also covered breaking news including the Gabbie Swainson disappearance, the AME shooting in Charleston as well as several investigative pieces encircling unsolved crimes, the dangers of the Internet, and Columbia’s long search for a new Chief of Police. In 2013, he was recognized to be called the South Carolina Broadcasters Association Television Personality of the Year, and several community affairs awards.  Tyler has also been appointed and earned several regional and local awards for his media work in both television and radio over the years.

Following a time as a cruise director, Tyler joined the crew at ABC Columbia in September 2016, as host for Good Morning Columbia and ABC Columbia News at Noon and the Weatherman, as well as operating on cold cases,  consumer affairs, and other investigative content. Tyler is frequently named as an emcee and public speaker, in the Midlands and beyond. He persists in his work in society, acting as the President of the Eagle Cold Case and Missing Person Institute, The South Carolina First Responders Memorial, The Adam Turner Foundation, and several other affiliations.

He is also part of the iHeart media team, sharing his voice as the host of the syndicated radio program Carolina Cares as well as occurring on well over 30 radio stations per week,  podcasts, and launched the Unfinished Files series, operating with cold case homicides and missing person cases. Tyler is very scornful to be a member of the ABC Columbia team, and the experience that exists within the station.  He notes that the ABC Columbia Family is a close group of very skilled journalists and professionals that are second to none.
